A record number of New York City real estate professionals joined Ariel Property Advisors at its semi-annual Coffee & Cap Rates event in Midtown on February 15. The networking breakfast, which attracted nearly 300 attendees, featured a panel of some of NYC’s most influential real estate executives to discuss the event’s theme: The NYC Investment Sales Market.
Shimon Shkury, President of Ariel Property Advisors, kicked off the event at Club 101 with a presentation on New York City investment property sales in 2016, referencing the firm’s newly released year-end research reports. He also discussed the current state of the market and provided a 2017 outlook for each borough.
Michael Stoler, Managing Director at Madison Realty Capital and Executive Producer of “The Stoler Report- New York’s Business Report,” moderated a spirited and often humorous discussion, with questions focused on multifamily properties, affordability, millennial housing trends, and the investment sales market.
Panelist Ofer Yardeni, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for Stonehenge NYC, shed light on which neighborhoods and properties he currently favors and which he is avoiding. He also discussed the current state of retail and the impact of the newly opened 2nd Avenue subway line on the Upper East Side.
Laurent Morali, President at Kushner Companies, along with Maurice Kaufman, founding Principal at AMAC Holdings, provided insight on their decision-making process for recent projects. They also discussed the current financing and business environment, obstacles the market faces, and areas they view as having the most upside potential.
All ticket proceeds from the event were directly donated to the nonprofit Legal Outreach. At the event, James O’Neal, Executive Director of the Legal Outreach, shared the goals and objectives of his organization, which helps young people from underserved New York City communities gain admission to the country’s most competitive colleges and universities.

The $72 registration fee will be donated to Legal Outreach, a nonprofit that prepares urban youth from underserved communities in New York City to compete at high academic levels.

Shimon Shkury is the founder and President of Ariel Property Advisors, a New York City investment property sales firm with an expertise in the multifamily asset class and development sites. In this role, he oversees all investment sales and research operations for the company. Since 2002, Mr. Shkury has advised private clients, institutions, operators, equity providers and lenders on pricing, positioning and selling assets throughout NYC.
Michael Stoler is the President of New York Real Estate TV, LLC a management consulting firm and Managing Director at Madison Realty Capital, a private equity firm. Mr. Stoler is the host and executive producer of “The Stoler Report-New York’s Business Report”, now in its fifteen season.
Ofer Yardeni is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Stonehenge NYC, a fully integrated real estate company based in NY which he founded in the early 90’s. At present, Stonehenge currently owns and manages an impressive portfolio consisting of 23 residential apartment buildings which include over 3,000 units - all located in Manhattan.
Laurent Morali is the President of Kushner Companies. Mr. Morali began his career in finance with French banking group Credit Lyonnais in Seoul, Korea. In January 2000, he joined the structured real estate finance team of Credit Lyonnais in Paris where he was directly involved in the LBO of France’s largest developer in 2000.
Maurice Kaufman is a founding Principal of AMAC where he oversees all facets of the company including acquisitions, financing, business development and asset management. Under his leadership, the AMAC team has built an international investor community and closed two private vehicles that have acquired more than 5,500 multifamily units nationwide.
