NEW YORK, NY – August 25, 2020 – Ariel Property Advisors hosted its annual internship programs for Legal Outreach, a leader in pipeline diversity programs for youth in New York City, and The Chapin School, an all-girls independent day school located on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. In both programs, students participated in an intensive, four-day commercial real estate course in which they were introduced to a wide range of topics, including the state of the New York City commercial real estate market, rent stabilization laws, real estate pricing metrics and how to present investments. Concepts were illustrated through a variety of remote learning strategies, due to Covid-19, and students concluded the program with a mock presentation of an investment opportunity to Ariel’s partners, demonstrating a practical application of the concepts learned during the week.

The fifth annual Chapin program was held from June 3-7, while the Legal Outreach program was held from July 27-30. The internships were led by Kristen Ostach, Investment Sales Analyst, Ariel; Michael Tortorici, Executive Vice President, Ariel, and representatives from Ariel’s Investment Sales, Capital Services and Research Divisions.

“It’s great to work with these students as they learn first-hand about the real estate careers that help shape the world they live in,” said Ostach. “For us as professionals, it’s incredibly rewarding to engage young people, especially from underrepresented groups, that will be leading our industry in the future.”

A program highlight for Chapin also included a panel discussion featuring female leaders from across the industry, in which students gained insight and advice, as well as participated in a lively open dialogue with the speakers: Belle Fiedor, Assistant Vice President, Acquisitions, Extell Development Company; Julia Hoagland, Licensed Associate Real Estate Broker, Compass; and Dana Lowey, Founder and President, Holliswood Development.
