NEW YORK, NY – November 28, 2019 – Ariel Property Advisors recently hosted a luncheon for The Real Estate Associate Program (REAP), an industry-backed, market-driven program that connects gifted minority professionals with commercial real estate companies. The November 21 event, which was attended by REAP’s Director Ken McIntyre, and attracted more than 30 people, featured a conservation with one of Ariel’s successful former brokers.
Shimon Shkury, President of Ariel Property Advisors, kicked off the event with a presentation about the company and comments about New York City’s investment sales market, which was followed by a Q&A session. He also shared his advice about how to succeed in the highly competitive industry of commercial real estate.
“It was absolutely wonderful to witness their enthusiasm as they learned first-hand about the risks and rewards of our industry. We are looking forward to expanding and continuing our partnership with REAP,” Shkury said.
The event’s highlighted guest, Alexander S. McGee, Founder & CEO of McGee Ryan Assets, is a former broker at Ariel. He shared his valuable insight about the struggles, and the great excitement, of being a broker. He touted the importance of patience and gave advice about how to handle being a minority in a business where they are underrepresented.
REAP is widely considered to be one of the most successful diversity initiatives in the commercial real estate industry. Over 400 REAP associates now work for leading firms in the industry, from London to Los Angeles, New York to New Mexico, according to the organization.
